Scope:

Fonds consists of records pertaining to the Rotary Club's "Roll Out the Barrel" contest. An annual lottery which consisted of a barrel being launched into the Fraser River at Lytton, BC. Tickets were sold entitling holders to estimate how long the barrel would take to reach New Westminster. A fund-raiser, a portion of the proceeds would go to a charity. There is a file containing a history of the charitable event, correspondence between Jack Boothe of the Globe and Mail newspaper and Harry J. Sullivan disputing the origin of the event, two tickets issued for the 1949 event. There is a number of loose photographs and a photo album that contains newspaper clippings and colour photographs from the 1986 revival of the event (which have not yet been described or scanned.)
