Photograph shows the F.W. Howay School, also known as the Central Boys and Girls School. Visible in the left background is the John Robson Elementary School. Visible behind the school buildings is the unfinished steeple of Queens Avenue Methodist Church, which stood at the corner of Queens Avenue and Sixth Street. Construction on the church began in 1899 and it was dedicated on April 22, 1900 which indicates the date of this photo is likely 1900. |
