Photograph shows an early view of New Westminster dating to 1862-1866. This photo was taken from from the south shore of the Fraser River (which later became part of Surrey in 1879).The photograph would have been taken from the sand bar near today’s Tannery Park in Surrey and shows the Fraser River with a First Nations person in a canoe. The New Westminster Cracker and Coffee Manufactory (proprietor G. Fernandez) appears just to the left of the stern of the paddlewheeler. |
