| Scope & Content |
Photograph shows shipyards on Poplar Island. Three ships are under construction. Within 30 days the shipyard established by New Westminster Construction and Engineering Ltd was running and opened in June 1917. The principals of this company were: Sam Dawe, George Blakely (both partners), H.M. Fullerton (Secretary-Treasurer), and John Hastle (General Manager). Four ships were built for the Imperial Munitions Board: War Comox, War Edensaw, War Kitimat, and War Ewen. |
