Three Wonderful Hot Shots. . .This trio of Maple Ridge Fire Department volunteers turn their backs to the flames to group for a surreal family portrait Wednesday. The building on 119th Avenue was reduced to ashes to make way for a development care centre. The Maple Ridge department differs from most volunteer forces. None of its 60 members is paid even token sums for attending fires. From the left: firefighter Graham Purdy, Chief Paul Steine and firefighter Greg Steine. |
