"Photograph shows education minister Bill Vander Zalm opening the new Douglas College campus. About 300 people attended. In 1970, the old Douglas College first opened in two secondary schools, some trailers and a warehouse. By 1980 the college was still in borrowed and rental facilities including the original trailers and warehouses. By that time the college was serving 10,000 people per semester. The old campus was at Eighth Avenue and McBride Boulevard. The new campus at Royal Avenue had a delay in opening due to labour problems. |
